Friday Friday Friday!

Ah, I love me some Friday! I've been doing better about getting out the door in a timely fashion and getting to work on time. I had become such a slacker about that! It's nice not to skulk in 5-10-15-20 minutes late and take the hit on my lunch hour.

So I finished "I Don't Know What I Want But I Know It's Not This" and am now knee-deep in "Cool Careers for Dummies." Those Dummies books are a great read. What a bunch of great ideas! The brainstorming continues. I'm gonna have so much research to do when I get through all these career books. The greeting card idea is still haunting me. How much fun to create greeting cards! Ironically, on Will & Grace last night there was a character that came on the show that does that for a living. What are the odds? I need to pursue that. I could SO do that on the side!

So we went to the tax man and that stuff's in his hands. Tomorrow we're going to Jason's union's centennial celebration at a local hotel and staying overnight. That should be interesting. Then on Monday we have dinner reservations at the Zinfandel Grille, then next week we're off to the bed & breakfast in Napa to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! I should find him some little trinket to commemorate the occasion. I've already got the Valentine's card and 3 anniversary cards picked out, filled out and ready to go . . . thinking on picking up a few Shari's Berries for Valentine's. I wonder what I could get him for our anniversary that wouldn't break the bank. Oh! I still need to burn a CD to put together a bunch of songs from our wedding. I haven't even touched the software for that yet!

So I'm still brainstorming ways to write for a living and not commute to an office every day, but I'm also working with an agency that found my resume on Monster.com to see if they can come up with anything interesting for me. I took their little typing, Word and legal terminology tests, which were a breeze. Looking forward to getting my scores back. I may have a ground floor opportunity to work with an attorney that is trying to get his own practice started -- I would be a legal secretary (transactional) but also the office manager and would be hiring a receptionist and billing person. I might be able to take that kind of risk since my benes are through Jason and the salary would be maybe even a little more than I make now. I'm still waiting for more information from the staffing firm, but I think I'd like to meet with that guy and see what this is all about! Hmmm.

I'm hungry. 10:08 a.m. and no breakfast yet. Thought I could skip it and wait 'til lunch but now Mr. Pang is kicking in. I could probably hold out 'til 11:30 and go have a big bean burrito w/sour cream at La Salsa (one of the only things they make that I like). Holding . . .

I think I need to start writing more letters to the editor and submitting potential articles to publications. I need to crack open that Writer's Guide and get started! Oh, how much fun to get paid for writing for a living. Especially if I could make enough that I didn't have to do it every single day and be a slave to it. Just freelance enough to make what I make now, maybe a little more. I'm not naive, though . . . I know how competitive that business is. But why can't I be a part of it?! I think I can. It's time to fish or cut bait!

Alrighty, enough blogging for now. Gotta get back to my mountains of filing/organizing/monkey work. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
