Almost Friday
So the last time I left off I thought I'd be right back but . . . guess not. I finished 101 Best Home-Based Businesses for Women (after having the damned book for a few YEARS, but anyway). Lots of great ideas and lots of brainstorming. I still have to go back over my notes and check out all the web sites I highlighted. Still tossing around the plumbing business idea with Jason and also wondering if I could make a living writing and/or creating greeting cards. I can't believe it never occurred to me before! I practically live in Hallmark half the year, and love the cards, and get such a charge out of finding just the right card. I could create those! I need to start sketching and see what I can come up with. Maybe I could create a little character or theme and build on that. I could do e-greetings, too. How much fun would that be?! It would definitely have to start off as a hobby, but I could totally get into it and find a way to make money off of it.
Oh, and I saw an ad today that there is a poster contest going on for the California State Fair and the theme is California's Ocean and Beaches. Awesome! I need to brainstorm for that. I want to know what I could come up with. I wonder how many people would respond to something like that? I don't think I'm even going to tell anyone. I just want to do it and see if I get any response. I need to get my creative juices flowing! There are so many things I would love to do and learn to do and I realized there is never going to be a time when I just have a bunch of free time on my hands to start doing the fun stuff. So, I've gotta make the time. I've been doing really well with keeping up on the reading, and still getting all my "have-to's" done (taxes, anyone?). Right now I'm on my last 50 pages of a ~240 page book called "I Don't Know What I Want, but I Know it's Not This!" Now THAT says it all. It's an interesting read. I thought I'd zip right through it but it turns out to be full of self-assessments and places to basically brainstorm, sort of like I did in the last book but this book is actually made for that. So that's interesting. I have started to learn a few things about myself that never really made it to the forefront before. Basically, I want my time to be my own, I want to work for myself, and I want to create my own personal wealth that I know no J-O-B will ever give me. And I just want to MAKE or PRODUCE something! I've never felt this drive before. It's still largely undefined, but there's definitely something bubbling up. I really hope I'm able to ride out these feelings of uncertainty and so far aimless energy and come out on the other side with something new, different, better . . . CHANGE.
So I think I'm gonna go hit my book and see if I can finish it off -- get ready for the next one! I also have to get ready for the weekend -- Super Bowl weekend -- since Jason's Eagles are finally in it to win it. Man, I hope they win!
Tomorrow I think Jason and I are gonna go do dinner & a movie with the movie tickets and pizza gift certificates we won from KCRA/KQCA on line. I've been entering contests on sites that I believe are reputable and just a couple of weeks later we get a call telling us Jason's entry won! 2 free movie passes and $40 for Round Table Pizza. Not bad! I'll take a $60 night out on someone else's dime! Now, if that Aloha trip to Maui I entered us in would come through . . . free flight to Maui, and we've still got a travel certificate from our wedding to take care of the hotel! I could DEFINITELY use a free trip to Hawaii! But I'm happy for the little things, too.
Well, that's enough for now, just didn't want another week to go by without blogging. I definitely want to keep this thing up and see where it takes me!
