Laying Low
You might think, with the husband off at the races for 3 days, that I'd have gone nuts, zipping all over town like a free woman -- but no, I spent most of my time around the house. I had it all to myself! It was great. Saturday I did go shopping w/my friend Corinne. There's never a silent moment w/us -- always something to say. Time flew, and I came home w/2 pairs of shoes & some flip-flops, as well as my 2nd Christmas ornament of July. I can't help myself. There was a 3-shelf console table that I was sorely tempted to buy from an Eddie Bauer home store that is closing down, but I passed.
Yesterday my dad drove up to say hi and hang out w/me for the afternoon. We went to a local sports bar for some lunch (mmmm chicken club sandwich w/avocado) and, of course, beer. It was a nice day.
The husband came home all rumpled and worn out from 3 days of camping, drinking, and drag races. He was happy to be home -- home is REAL nice after a few days of roughing it!
This morning I was zipping around trying to pull myself together because I was kind of lazy over the weekend, really only doing what I wanted to for the most part. I did some stuff around the house -- good enough. I prefer to do that stuff during the week when I have to be working anyway. I'm ready for next weekend now!
Oh -- I did bake a blueberry pound cake from scratch this weekend. It came out beautifully, like a photo from a cookbook. It's just okay on taste, though. The blueberries are fabulous, but overall it tastes kind of flour-y to me. Maybe I should put butter on it . . . even though it's made w/butter. Mmm honey butter! Or maybe I needed to use a different kind of flour. I dunno yet. Something fun to work on. I love to bake stuff!
Anyway, no funny stories or rants from this weekend or from today . . . yet. I'll see what I can come up with.
P.S. I did notice no one seems to have updated their blogs over the past few days -- 'cept Grrrace. Where is everyone?
