Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday

Beer #2 (No. 2!). Ees good. Haven't had dinner yet. Gettin' hungry. Fixin' to go have pizza & mozzarella sticks at Original Pete's. MMMmmpete's. It's been a while.

I STILL have not made our vacation reservations. And we're supposed to go in less than 2 weeks. I'm waffling big-time! I'm gonna do it. This weekend. I swear!

My dad's coming to visit tomorrow. He only lives an hour and a half away, so we see him pretty regularly -- relatively speaking -- but it's always a treat. He just got a new car. A corvette! He's all embarrassed about it like it makes him look like he's having a mid-live crisis or something. But from what he's told me he's had it in his head that he's wanted one since he was about 17 years old. He's 54 now. I think most guys his age see the Corvette as the ultimate dream American sports car. So why the hell not? He can afford it. I don't begrudge him that a bit. I can't wait to see it! It's blue -- my favorite color.

Tomorrow I think the husband and I are gonna hit Mandango's. It's a sports bar not far from here that is nice -- clean, not jacked up like a lot of them -- and they have good food. My stepdaughter is with her mom this weekend, so we have the rare weekend where we can go out, which we almost never do. And now this summer his daughter is going to be globetrotting for almost all of it -- we're gonna have all this time to ourselves, able to do whatever we want, and I know already we're gonna miss her! I guess it's that whole absence makes the heart grow fonder thing. We have to get her some summer clothes and send her off with some spending money. She finishes 5th grade next week. When I met Jason, she was in kindergarten! I think the only reason people ever feel old is because of the kids we have around us. Adults don't change so much over the years, but kids . . . well, she's almost as tall as me now! Not that I'm tall, but still.

Today was a pretty mellow day. Nothing to complain about. Now I've got a beer, and gettin' ready to go eat, so it's all good.

When we get back, I'll figure out that vacation stuff. Really. I will. Honest!
