A Deadly Game

I spotted this Catherine Crier book at a friend's house last weekend and borrowed it from her. It's about the Scott Peterson trial. If her sources are reliable, that guy was even more of a scumbag than he came across as during the media blitz. Of course, it was an entirely circumstantial case, and all signs point to him, but I have to admit -- aside from doing some stupid shit that made him appear even more guilty, he did manage to cover his tracks pretty well as far as the actual crime is concerned (obviously, I believe he did it). They had crap for forensic evidence. It's really scary to me that someone that you married can kill you. I know it happens all the time -- I guess that's why they say there's a thin line between love and hate. My personal opinion is that poor girl was a slave to her need to keep up appearances and have a certain image -- never thinking for a second that she was actually in danger -- but she certainly didn't deserve to die because of it.

So the book wasn't great, but it was interesting. Unfortunately, it was so riddled with typos that it was annoying! I don't think I've ever seen a book in my life with so many typos -- from a woman that was a lawyer, a judge, now a writer, and who has an editor. I slipped a note into the book to my friend telling her thanks for the loan and telling her that if I was the author, instead of thanking her editor at the end of the book, I'd have fired his ass! Amazing.

Thanks for the review...I usually have my hands all over books like that, but perhaps I'll pass.

On another note...I was going to leave you a messager in your box, but it's down. I've been meaning to stop by for a while now.:)
