You know . . .

If only the work day passed as fast as the mornings. Wouldn't you swear that sometimes time really does go by faster than others? Like right now, I'm willing to bet there are only 30 seconds in a minute. Then when I get to work, there will be 90 seconds in a minute. It just doesn't seem possible that every single minute has the same 60 seconds in it. Oh! And when I'm sitting in traffic trying to get to work? 15 seconds in a minute. But on the way home? 120 seconds. Someone is messing with me!

Ah, well, at least I saved some time elsewhere . . . we did our grocery shopping last night, put gas in both cars last night, made our lunches last night, and started a bunch of laundry last night so we're all ready for the new week. The husband claims he is going to go to the gym with me tonight, so I blew off going this morning. We'll see if we pull it off.

Oh! A few days ago we found a newborn kitten in the neighbor's bush, crying and alone -- couldn't have been more than a week old. We knew there was a pregnant cat in the neighborhood, that looked barely a year old itself, and I guess she gave birth. We only found one and hadn't seen the momma in a while so we took the kitten to try and keep it warm and find something for it to eat. I was on the phone with a local pet supply store trying to find out what to do and then the momma showed up! And SHE was starving. We brought them into our garage and gave her some of our cat's food, which she horfed down, barely even noticing her kitten -- even as it cried up a storm right next to her. But then when she was done, she did lick the kitten and pick it up by its scruff and try to find a place to put it. Then she just put it down. Then she took it over by the garage door, obviously wanting out, so we let her out. She hung out by the door because there was still food there, and we thought she'd probably stay in the back yard (couldn't imagine her scaling the fence holding the kitten by its scruff) -- but she managed to get out with the kitten. She didn't seem to mind that we had held the kitten -- in fact, she wasn't defensive at all and when we would walk around with the kitten, she would just follow us and she herself wanted to be held. The momma can't weigh any more than 5 pounds right now. SO small!

So we don't know where it is or how it's doing, but momma keeps coming back to eat so hopefully she's going back to wherever she's stashed the kitty and nursing her. We figure if we keep momma kitty's strength up at least there's a chance she can take care of the kitten. And momma kitty is stray, but not feral, so she has that going for her. All this because we got some new neighbors that seemed to have a half dozen cats that they just let roam the neighborhood. I tried to keep the big ugly tom cats away from this cat, but obviously they found her. Stupid new neighbors. Some people have no sense at all.

Now see that? It's 7:10. There's just no way I'm getting 60 seconds per minute right now! Gotta run.
