The Zinfandel Grille - Rocklin, CA
That's where Jason and I had dinner last night to celebrate Valentine's Day -- the hotel restaurant where we were married last year! Our anniversary is this coming Monday. We decided we should go have dinner there once a month. They have the best ambience and great staff, interesting food and good cold beer! Yum. We sat at the bar until the time of our reservation and got a great seat for dinner. Had some crazy stuff (for us, anyway). I started with a Caesar salad and Jason had the corn chowder. We had their bread and their killer flavored oil/vinegar/herb dipping goo, too. Then I had the chicken satay and Jason had the Oysters Rockefeller! A little too slimy for us, but interesting. I ordered the seared rare Hawaiian Ahi and Jason had the lamb rib chops. Jason made the better choice. I think my fish was still flopping around on the plate when I got it! The ginger soy dipping sauce helped a lot but I was so full from everything else it didn't matter. And WOW on the lamb. Tastes like steak! We both had the grand marnier cheesecake -- had the best little dollop of fresh whipped cream on the side. Yep, we left full. Resolved to have their pizza next time. They have great wood-fired pizza there! Mmmmmmmmmmm pizza & beer.
When I came home from work before dinner Jason had a little surprise for me on the dining room table . . . very cute. And I had one for him, too, which I set out for him before we left but without him seeing, so he was surprised. It was a nice evening -- planned, for once! I'll keep the details to myself. :o)
I'm a little more than halfway through my "Cool Careers for Dummies" book. Lots of great ideas in there. I have SO much research to do. I'm looking forward to it. And, I am thinking of taking a writing class, so that's perked me up a little bit. But right now I need to focus on managing our money and taking that little weekend getaway we have coming up for our anniversary! Our first trip to a bed & breakfast. Can't wait! If we like this one, I think the next one will have to be Wine & Roses in Lodi. Pretty local and great reviews. I guess I should wait to see how we like the bed & breakfast experience before making more plans! I haven't even set up our Cancun and Hawaii vacations yet! I have the travel bug this year . . . BAD.
Well, 10:21 and I've been on the PC for almost 4 hours now. Terrible! Didn't do any reading, laundry, cleaning, or watch any of my shows. I did, however, post a few more pics, even a couple of personal ones for fun. Getting a better handle on some of the web formatting stuff but considering it's almost 100% automated I feel like I'm in way over my head trying to understand how it really works! Ah, well, as long as the stuff shows up on the blog that is the point.
That's it for now . . .
