Call for Ideas
Hey, if you were writing a newsletter for work (assuming you like where you work, though I would love to hear ideas from those who don't as well), what kinds of things would you write about? Now that I've been doing this for a few months, I feel like I need to develop a pool of story ideas in case there's not a lot going on. So far I've been lucky because I work in a big enough place for lots of things to be happening. I'd be SOL in a place with, say, 25 employees. But 10 times that makes for lots o' newsletter fodder.
Still, if you have any suggestions, I'm happy to file them away for another day.
Anyone?

for those who hate their work:
what to do when you want to kill your co-worker
how to do a half-ass job
how to surf the net w/o getting caught
just a few ideas. :)
Start writing about people who make smellies in the bathroom!! HAHA!!! Kidding. That would be rude.
i would write about how much i hate everyone and tell all their little secrets (i know everyone's secrets because the office yenta sits next to me)
Ha hahaaaaahaaaaa! I would just start an anonymous blog and tell all the stupid things that people do. Or how incredibly cat-fighty all the women are and how grateful I am that I have my own office.
Or something like that.
Sorry. Wish I could help.
Heh. Guess the lot of us aren't helpful to you at all, assuming that you want to write one of those happy, happy, aren't you glad you work here, let's all be a happy family type of thing. We aren't helpful one bit, are we?
*looks at grumpy hat on my head*
All: Allllllllllllllllrighty, then. That got me nowhere! Funny, though. And yes, J, it's supposed to be upbeat -- but I try not to make it too saccharine. I am confident it wouldn't make any of you ill if I were able to show it to you!
1.) write a small blurb about individual workers, like a 'do you know this person' and have a question/answer thing on it, how long have you worked here, your fav foods, married/single, yada yada yada.
2.) throw in an article on safety in the workplace
3.) health tips, healthy eating
4.) trivia, everybody loves trivia, put a few famous quotations and see who guesses them right gets a company hat.
Don't forget a joke or cartoon!
Helpful hints for cube living. Like "Fold a napkin up and stuff it in the bottom of your pen holder. When your pen blows out from laying out in the heat you just throw away the nasty thing and put in a fresh one."
My pen blew up. It messed up all my other pens. Can you tell?
I was going to say write about your coworkers in a 'get to know you' sense, or find out what some of their hobbies are. In our newsletter they usually do a book and/or local restaurant review. That's a space filler.
