Sweet Sassy Molassey

Our rescuers from the A/C company showed up at 8 a.m. today to rip out our old A/C system and begin installation of the new one. It was supposed to be a 2-day job. In fact, I was supposed to take tomorrow off to be here while they finished it. Well, when I got home this afternoon they were nearly FINISHED installing our new A/C. It's running right now! OMFG . . . it's 93 degrees in here and feels like heaven. Heaven, I say! I can't even tell you. So, the house will be cooled down by the time we go to be tonight, the saltwater tanks will get back to normal, the cat will stop trying to escape the house and although I guess I will just go ahead and go into work tomorrow, I will do it having had a fantastic night of sleep and knowing I have a 4-day weekend ahead. And, since I worked on Saturday, I won't have to use a vacation day for Monday. YEAH! Dude. I'm in heaven. Who cares if it cost us $10.5k?! What an upgrade. It's much quieter than the old system, too -- and super efficient.

Kinda makes up for the fact that I had technology issues up the ass at work today that kept me from really getting anything done. Thank God I worked on Saturday!

Saturday night we spent the night at Phil & Tracey's house 1) because the boys were going to the races on Sunday and wanted to leave at the crack-ass of dawn; and 2) because we just couldn't take the heat anymore. It was a nice break. The boys left, and I slept in until almost 8:30. That was nice. Me and Tracey spent the morning watching crap T.V. until about noon when we couldn't take it anymore and had to go get something to eat. We went to 2 restaurants that it turns out don't serve lunch on weekends before we went to one that served us some lovely fried artichoke hearts and big-ass salads. I had a Hawaiian pale ale that was pretty good. I shall return. Then we went shoe shopping and I got yet another pair of black slip on heels -- lower than usual, and insanely comfortable -- and a new pair of tennies for the gym. Pretty good deal. We hung out at Phil & Tracey's until about 9 p.m. then came home to pay the piper. The cat had licked her bowl clean, so I guess 24 hours was all she could take. The heat apparently did not diminish her appetite.

Anyway, we slept on the futon in the spare room again w/the whole house fan blaring all night -- great breeze, but f'ing loud. But now . . . the A/C is pumping (and unbelievably quiet), and I am going to sleep like a damned baby tonight. We're getting ready to go get something to eat now. And the temp is down another degree to 92. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
