Yaaaaaaawn
I just got done playing online poker for the last 2 or 3 hours. The husband plays all the time, and was in the mist of a tournament when it came time for him to go to a friend's house to play a real poker game. He asked me to take over for him. I'm no poker pro -- but I understand the basics. These tournaments start out with 10,000 people and the people who place in the top 27 get into a tournament for a chance to win $1,000. I didn't want to polay, so the husband set himself as "sitting out" so he would at least lose slowly.
Well, I decided to check on it a while ago and maybe play for a while since I knew he wouldn't be back before it was over. When he left there were about 800 players left. When I took over, he was in about 85th place out of 600 or so people. I thought if I started playing he probably wouldn't be in it for long, but I wanted to give it a try. I couldn't believe I played as long as I did. I think he had about $16,000 when I started, and I had cut that down to about $4,000 within the first 10 minutes. Then I won a few hands and got it up to about $27,000. I kept playing . . . and playing . . . and playing and won several big hands -- the largest being about $112,000. At the height of my game, I was up to over $220,000.
I finished in 42nd place overall.
Forty-second! That, to me, is amazing. I never thought I'd last but after the first hour or two I started to think I had a shot at finishing in the top 27. Still, I was only 15 places out -- and for someone who's never sat down and played a game of Texas Hold 'em, I thought that was pretty damned good!
I'm sleepy now. Nighty night.

That's pretty good. I'm like you-not good at playing poker. I have fun trying, though, given the opportunity.
Woo-Hoo!! 42!!! I would have lost all my money in the first hand:) I know nothing about poker!
Nice going!
If all of your readers chipped in some money, we could back you in real tournaments and split the winnings!
I'm still surprised at how well I did. The husband says the best he ever finished was 350. And he plays all the time! But, he doesn't have the patience I do.
I need to play that game more often!
