Commuting
I think it should be an Olympic sport now. I saw three cars playing cat & mouse this morning and it was not only not friendly, but crazy. They were buzzing back and forth across 3-4 lanes of traffic, as well as the left and right shoulders. At 70 miles an hour, one of the cars went off on the left shoulder through foot-high dry grass for a good 50 feet and darted back into traffic. At one point, one of the cars veered across the freeway to the right and stopped -- and other car followed suit. The second guy to stop got out of his car and was angrily heading toward the first car, when the first car darted back into traffic and took off going upwards of 80 mph trying to get away. I passed that car later and there were two middle-aged (or older) guys in it. The guy had a personalized plate, too, which is dangerous when you think of the other guy running across them later. I don't know what ever happened to the third car. People are so goddamned angry anymore that you could be forced to stop short due to what's going on in front of you and the person behind you will simply decide you must be punished.
Scary.
Well, at least I wasn't involved in that. And this time it only took me 40 minutes to get to work, which still sucked, but it's still better than an hour.
And, I rectified my fuck-up from yesterday, and have made other progress so onward and upward, I guess.
It's supposed to be 90 degrees here today. The weather gods just can't make up their minds. Freezing? Sweltering? Raining? Locusts? I don't know what's next. The river is still at Defcon 5 levels and the snow pack is about double normal so for those in N. CA thinking of boating and rafting this summer -- WATCH OUT! It's gonna be frigging cold and there's gonna be a lot of junk in the water. I think I'd prefer to sit on the deck of one of the restaurants on the river with a pitcher of margaritas. No need to get in.
Other than that, I'm still totally buried and just trying to dig my way out. Ciao for now.

Community in rush hour traffic should be an olympic event. It is pure craziness down here. We have a great mix of New Yorkers, island people and old people. It's grand fun!
oops I meant commuting.:)My brain is offically off for the summer.
Uh... yeah... that really REALLY makes me miss California...
NOT! LOL.
We lived in Riverside and Coffeehusband went to school in Hollywood. One night it took him 4 HOURS to get home. He still commutes almost an hour now - but it's not a 'bad' commute.
Pixie: They're going to have to start putting bumpers on cars soon. Not the kind we have now, but the kind that go on bumper cars!
Merritt: Well now, it's not as bad as So. Cal . . . YET.
