What genius comes up with terms like this?

Ever heard of a "food champion?" I was at Taco Bell the other day and that was the title of the person taking my order at the register. Nevermind the fact that it was clear English was her second language, and the fact that she not only couldn't understand my order, but claimed she did when I tried to clarify with her because I could see by the abbreviations that popped up on the register display that she was fucking it up. How do I know this? Well, for starters, when I say I want something with chicken on it, anything referencing beef would be wrong.

Food champion my ass.

Anyway, yesterday was a big day at work with 8 people, essentially summer interns, starting work. I spent the day shepherding them around for orientation, as I will do again today. It was fun, though. It's exciting for them, and I got to give them the welcome gifts I'd put together for them. Some of the attorneys in my office told me everyone was talking about them -- because they were jealous! That was nice.

Today I get to add running an interview for most of the day to the stuff I have to do with the interns, and finalize arrangements for a golf tournament involving 32 attorneys. I didn't even attempt to go to the gym this morning. As soon as I'm done with this, I gotta hop in the shower and get going!

My weekend was not exactly exciting, but we still did a lot. Saturday I spent 7 hours -- SEVEN HOURS! -- working on a photo album from our vacation to Cancun last year. I was at a friend's house specifically for that purpose. I couldn't believe I was there all day. And I still didn't finish! I have a few pages left to do. Anyway, I was exhausted when I was done. When I came home, the husband and stepdaughter had gotten dinner going, which was nice.

On Sunday the husband and I did some shopping -- I was looking for something to add to my work wardrobe. All I found was a blazer, but it was a good find. I also bought a new purse, which I LOVE. New purses are the best! It's like a fresh start. Then we walked down the mall and bought some cheap sunglasses, some tinted moisturizer (for me, of course), a tape measure (for him) and I think that was about it. After we got home he went to a friend's for a bit and I visited a scrapbook store to look for stuff to finish my photo album. The stuff I found was just okay. Then I stopped off at a store to check out bicycles for the stepdaughter -- I think we are going to buy her a new one this week.

The husband and I met back up at home, and watched Flight Plan on DVD. We thought it was pretty good -- and I liked the fact there wasn't any gore, because there easily could have been.

So that was about it for that. Yesterday was nothing but work, dinner, and catching up on some Tivo. I watched the Desperate Housewives season finale -- always scandalous!

Today will be more work then I'm meeting the husband for some presentation regarding retirement plan junk through his work. Fun. Might go have dinner at this Chinese place we like. Other than that, I expect much of today to be a blur.

Ciao for now.

That's awesome that everyone is talking about the gift baskets!!! It sounds like your job is going awesome!!

I hate when they come up with different names. She's a freaking cashier!! At sunrise instead of calling us aides they called us care mangers. The problem was half of them were so not care mangagers.

Ian: Hey hey HEY! Don't be bringin' that negativity around here . . . it's hard enough to get him to go shopping in the first place! Besides, he needed a 30' Fat Max and I made him go to the mall because he was makin' me go to the fish store!

Peachy: I'm gonna have to post a pic of the centerpiece of that gift basket. And my purse. I'll see if I can find them.

Pixie: I'm enjoying it -- even if I'm running a little ragged right now!

Meritt: No, but only because I caught it and told her it was wrong before they made it! Ahhhh . . . I love new purses.
