Paper Tiger
My desk is covered in paper. This is an unnatural state for me. Do you think anyone would notice if I lit it on fire?

Just casually light someone else's desk on fire first. Then they'll just think it spread to yours.
Ariel has the right idea. Good plan to get outta work that day too. ;)

YB: Unfortunately, I did not get this advice until after I got home -- and I actually did some of the work that was taking over my desk!
