Mother#$%@^&!
So, I worked until 8 o'clock last night, got home at 9:00, had all of 2 hours to look at mail and wind down then passed out 'til it was time to get up at 6:30. The husband is still home, so he was going to take the stepdaughter to school, but since he was still in bed, I still had to make sure she got up, got ready, ate something, etc. before it was time to go. She was putting up a stink about having to eat cereal for breakfast, announcing that she would eat at her mother's house -- so I informed her that her father was taking her to school and she needed to eat something. She grumbles all through that then announces she needs to do her hair. WTF? I asked her what she was talking about and she said she was going to have her mother French-braid her hair. Sure. At 8:30 in the morning, knowing you have to be to school by 9:00, we're going to go dump you off at your mother's house so she can do you hair. NOT.
So I was irritated about that, then I go to get my stuff together. I had tossed a bunch of stuff into a big plastic Macy's bag on my way out of the office last night because I had bought a pair of shoes so the box for that was in there, the shoes I had on earlier were in there, my CD case was in there, a gift-wrapped box of See's candy from my office, a water bottle and some other odds & ends were all in there. I went to get my CDs and noticed something in the bag was wet. Correction -- EVERYTHING in the bag was wet! The lid on my big 32 oz. water bottle was apparently not on all the way and leaked out all night. All over everything. I opened my CD case, and every CD is wet. The box of See's is sopping. Every goddamned thing in there waterlogged. I opened the box of candy and put all the candies in a Tupperware, took the shoe box out, and then took every CD out of the case and threw the case away. I had CDs all over the bed, irritated because I didn't have time to deal with it but wanting to take the CDs with me so I can listen at work. I wrapped them up in a towel and took them with me, and dried them once I got here. I need to go get a new case. Jesus Christ. I know it's small in the grand scheme of things, but why is it that when you're irritated all these other things kick in to exacerbate it?
I came to work, and felt relieved that I could just go to my office and start my day. We had someone coming in to interview that I was going to meet at 10:00, and I had lunch plans with some friends. I hadn't eaten breakfast, and I was hungry. Me and my friend here at work made plans to leave around 11:35 to meet another friend at a restaurant at 11:45. We go to get my car, which is in a weird "valet" parking situation, and I see it's only got one truck behind it so I figure we're good on time. Until I learn that the guy whose truck was behind me left his keys in the car for the valet, but LOCKED the truck. Um, helloooooooooooo? Not only that, but the valets knew that it was locked and hadn't done anything about it because they figured I probably wouldn't want to leave during the day. And why would you figure that, exactly? Do you have a copy of my schedule? Gah! So they go hunt down the guy whose truck it is, and he had no idea what he had done, and then 4 guys proceed to work on breaking into the car. About 15 minutes later, they managed to get in. So we got in the car and took off.
After that, everything was fine. We got there pretty quickly, found a place to park, and our other friend had ordered for us. Lunch was nice, and it was nice to sit and chat with them.
I still need to go across the street to the mall and buy a CD case. I think I'll take a break around 3:00. There's really only one place over there that I think I can get one (Sam Goody), so either I'll get one or I'll have to go hit Best Buy or something later.
Tonight is also the managing partner's holiday party, and me and the husband are going. I don't know what to expect. I imagine we'll look a little like the odd-men out, but there will be a couple of other people from the management team there, so hopefully we can huddle with them! I didn't want to be a wuss and not go. So we'll see what happens.
Other than that, it's Friday, and it's the last weekend to get the Christmas shopping done, and I do have some more to do so I gotta get crackin'! I just realized next week will probably also only be a 3-day work week for me, so I've got a few things I've got to get done here before then, too. Busy!
I'm looking forward to the new year and setting some new goals. I'm ready!
