What's up

I don't think I have anything good to write about. What's the haps . . . well, Friday I cooked pasta and meatballs, made a BIG salad (the "big" salad), and some honey cornbread (out of a box -- I wasn't THAT motivated). The honey cornbread was killer! Krusteaz -- go find yourself a box today. It said cook it for 25-30 minutes if you were using a glass dish, but our oven cooks things fast so I took it out at 20. Yum. I had the last 2 slices for breakfast the next day.

Jeff's girlfriend Missy and her dad came by and had dinner, and hung out for a bit. He had come up because Missy's truck broke down so he was going to see if he could fix it then take it with him back home, leaving her w/his truck. Turns out it was just the fan belt. The fan belt! I wish I'd asked the husband to go look at it -- he could totally have taken care of it. Anyway, it was nice to see them.

Saturday we did stuff around the house, worked on the bathroom a bit. It's coming along. We had to re-shoot the texture because we weren't happy with it so now that's done and we'll try the "fudgsicle" paint tomorrow. Then it's on to tile. Oh! And the toilet can be re-set so we will again be a 2-bath house. We also bought some new light fixtures to replace the ones in the bathrooms and hallway because though they had been replaced right before we bought the house, they were butt-ugly. We'd replaced three other light fixtures in the house a year or two ago, and replaced the ones on the front and back patios, so it was time. And the ones we bought were only $15 apiece, just brushed nickel accents & frosted white glass. Simple -- inexpensive -- instead of the dumb gold-plate trimmed, fake crystal glass POS we replaced! I'll have to take some pics. I have pics of our finished tile floor, but haven't posted them yet. Actually, I think I've already downloaded them. Hold, please . . .

That last picture is dark, but the tile came out great. I can't wait to see how everything else turns out once we get the bathroom painted, walls tiled, etc. We couldn't afford to replace every last thing (like bathroom cabinets & counters), but the stuff we have replaced is major -- it's so awesome that the husband knows how to do all this stuff, 'cuz if we had to pay someone, we'd just be living with it the way it was!

So then Saturday night we went to my friend Skindy's house for dinner -- she made chicken saltimbocca, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans & bread. We had an appetizer of crostini, and I even drank wine with dinner, which I never do -- but the pinot grigio was going down very nicely. We drained that, and then moved on to the beer! Then evil Skindy busted out with brownies, ice cream, fudge sauce and whipped cream. We couldn't eat the whole portions she dished out for us, but we did give it a go. Yum yum YUM.

Sunday we slept in a little, made a late breakfast and then the husband watched football while I tried to make some sense of the piles of paper around the house. I finally made a significant dent and now know what was lurking in all those piles. At least now I know there are no time bombs in 'em!

Work today was busy, productive, but not particularly interesting. I'm just trying to get things wrapped up because I have a 2-day seminar starting on Wednesday, then I just gotta get through Friday before we go on VACATION! For a WEEK. We can't even really afford it at this point -- but the plane tickets were long-ago purchased, and the lodging is free, so we are going. I'm gonna try and pretend like we don't have a care in the world for once! I think this will be a nice break before we head into fall and the holidays and all that. New Year's will be here before we know it!

That tile looks awesome. (but can you hold off on the New Years talk until after Halloween, please?)

I like the tile too. I wish I had a handyman nearby. I have a lot of projects in my head, but they'll never get done.

Heather: Thanks -- and thanks for stopping by!

CL: Sorry -- I have a tendency to think ahead to stuff like that!

Peachy: The husband is quite handy! But you are very far away from us . . .

Grrrace: I like picking the stuff out, I'm just always worried about getting it wrong! I seem to go against my gut instinct when it comes to paint, then go back to it after I f-up with the second choice color.

We're going to Newport Beach (we're flying in and meeting some other family members who are driving), and may visit some friends who live not far from there.

LBB: It's like peanut butter & chocolate for you, huh? :0)

Fatrobot: Crunchy.
