Trying to get it together
I'm trying to spend a little less time on the computer. It's like a magnet, this thing.
The past few days I've just been trying to get through the work week and it ended on a pretty good note. I felt like I got everything done that needed to be done, and that I had sort of a handle on things. I've been getting good feedback from my boss, and I am looking forward to my review next month. I really do love my job right now!
I took yesterday off because the husband had it off. His job is slowing down so he had to take yesterday and Monday off -- kind of a bummer, but not a big deal. We took the stepdaughter to school, picked up some stuff at Target, hung out at home for a bit then went out for lunch. From there we went to the mall, then to the movies (saw "Failure to Launch" -- cute, but they could have left a few cheesy parts on the cutting room floor). On the way home, we stopped off so the husband could get a hair cut. Shortly after that we picked up the stepdaughter from basketball practice, stopped off at the grocery store and then I was home making dinner. The day flew by! It was cool, though, because I knew I still had the whole weekend ahead of me.
Tonight we are going to a dinner party being held by my firm's Marketing Director. Our HR Director is leaving to embark upon another career so our management team is getting together for a last hurrah. I'm looking forward to it.
So, it's Saturday morning. When I finish this, I'm going to go to the gym for the first time in over a week. Yep, I'm still slackin'. Time to go pay the piper. After that, I need to put myself together, figure out what kind of appetizer I'm gonna make for this party tonight, then go shopping. First, to the mall for a few tops or something because my closet is looking tired. Hopefully I can find a few things to perk it back up. Then back to the grocery store for whatever I need to make whatever I'm making. Other than that, I guess I just have some stuff to do around the house. I have a feeling today's gonna pass fast, too. I also need to take my car in for a tune-up or something, but I don't know if that's going to happen today. Suddenly, my list is getting a little long!
Right now E! is showing "101 Incredible Celebrity Slimdowns." I say whatever to those people. First of all, you all have trainers and cooks at your disposal. I had a trainer once. I worked way harder with a trainer than I do on my own! And if I could have my perfectly proportioned and prepared meals delivered to my door, it'd be easier to stick to eating the right foods. What the hell is so incredible about what they do? It's simple math -- and they have teams of people to help them get it right. I wanna see how incredible those people are while working a regular job that requires them to be there at a certain time for a certain number of hours, every day, while cleaning their own houses, running their own errands, taking care of their own spouses and children and doing all of their own shopping and cooking. I dare say most of them would be downright regular. I'm just jealous, of course, but I don't see anything incredible about what they do. They get paid to look good for a living. I could do that. Phthpthpthptphtphtphttthpptp!
I'd better get to it.

Not to mention that they wokout for hours at a time. Oh, the hard work it must be. I think it's funny when they talk about a celebrity have such great style. Whatever, they have a stylist and if you saw the before pics, it usually isn't so pretty.
101? There were really 101 of them?
Pixie: Another good point!
Ian: Yep -- E! likes their lists. It takes hours to count down! 20 per hour. Somehow they squeeze that last one into the last hour.
The stars say 'Oh, for this role, I was in the gym 6 hours a day.'-Shut up. If I could be in the gym 6 hours a day preparing for a role, I'd gladly do it. I'd gladly do it if I didn't have to work or prepare for a role.
The stars think they have it so bad.
How was the party?
Seriously. Amen.
Know what I keep telling myself? The "regular" people who look like that, like movie stars? I mean, the ones who have to work at it and weren't just blessed with fabulous genes. If they are spending all of that time & energy on working out so much, on top of having a regular job, how much time are they spending, doing anything else? Not much. This is what I tell myself to feel better about living a full life and enjoying the people around me while carrying a few pounds I'd prefer not to own. :)
Peachy: 6 hours a day. That's insane! The party was cool; glad we went.
BG: Word!
