Weird

I had a kind of weird moment on the freeway this afternoon. I was slugging it out in traffic after just getting on the freeway, and was about to pass the next exit. I reached the point where the lines on the pavement were painted so there was a pie-shaped wedge of space separating the lane I was in from the exit ramp and, within that pie-shaped space, there was a small black bird hovering about 2 or 3 feet off the ground -- just flapping his little wings. He was flying in place, kind of like a hummingbird, but it wasn't a humming bird -- and there were cars all around going freeway speeds! There he was, just hovering. I only saw him for a few seconds because I passed him, but it was sort of a slow-motion moment for me. Very surreal.

I wonder what the bird was thinking -- this looks like a good spot to land?! Probably not, birdie! Weird.
