People are funny

I have a candy dish on my desk at work. Whenever it's full, I have lots of friends. I have even more friends whenever I'm not at my desk, as evidenced by the fact that the quantity of candy in the dish goes down exponentially during those times. Until it gets down to the last one. The last one will sit in there for all of eternity. Why is that? People will take 5 at a time when it's full, but it gets down to the last few and they start getting cautious. Last week I finally ate the last one just to get it over with!

I need to buy some more candy.
