mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmTacos
We were supposed to go to the gym when I got home from work. We looked at each other and decided we'd go tomorrow (maybe). We went to dinner instead! Just to El Torito. The chips were warm & fresh, the salsa was spicy & fresh, and the chicken tacos were kickin'! Yum. Washed 'em down with a Cadillac margarita.
That's as good for you as going to the gym, right?
Then we went by Aaron Bros. so I could check out frames for all these vacation pics I want to put on the walls. They're having a huge sale! Buy one frame, get one for $.01. So basically buy one get one free. And not just crappy ones they're trying to get rid of. The ones I wanted were on sale! Well, all but 1. But I got an 11x14, two 8x10's, two 5x7's and a 6-picture collage thingy (I don't know how to describe it -- it's like 6 separate frames but connected somehow like it's a piece of art in itself) for $50! I might have to go back and get a few more of the 5x7's or 8x10's -- depends on how many pics I end up hanging. I just printed a bunch of the digital ones on plain paper so I can lay them out on the ground and decide how they should go.
Anyway, great deals on frames (as well as some mirrors, prints & paintings) if you're looking. I never luck out like that! Usually, things seem to be on sale perpetually until I decide to buy it. Then the sale will have ended the day before. Not today! HA! (P.S. the sale is going on through July 31st. Plenty of time -- plenty of time!)
Oh -- I finished that newsletter today. Just in time! I spent almost the entire day on it today -- and yesterday. I was a little worried; I've been covering for someone else and I just hadn't been able to dig into it this time the way I did last time, plus I had that week of vacation. But it's done, and I think it's pretty good. In fact, I think it's better than the first one, because I got more stories from around the office and more pictures, more stuff to talk about. It's pretty cool -- people call me and send me e-mails to tell me what's going on and I write something about it. So easy! Plus, I know what's going on all around me. I feel like a mini version of The Smoking Gun web site with all these people sending me information. Of course, there's nothing sinister in my office newsletter the way there is in The Smoking Gun. Do you ever read that site? I get their e-mails so whenever it's updated I get links to all the new stories. It's amazing the stuff they get. Some of it's pretty creepy -- some of it is just funny. Their mug shots are the best!
It's 92 degrees outside right now. At 8:00 p.m.! A few days ago we'd barely broken 70 by noon. It was over 100 today. My car's thermometer tried to say it was 113 degrees outside on our way home from dinner. I'm afraid my car is on crack. NFW that it was that hot out. That's like Fresno in July!
Anyway, it's been a good day. I don't expect tomorrow to be quite as nice:
1) because the attorney I'm helping right now while her assistant is out asked me this afternoon if I was working tomorrow and practically did a happy dance when I said yes;
2) because I didn't make any plans to leave early tomorrow and get a jump on my 3-day weekend;
3) because people lose their muddafuckin' minds on 3-day weekends; and
4) because I'm probably going to be sitting with all of them in rush-hour traffic tomorrow while they're trying to get up the hill to Tahoe or Reno.
Maybe I should start drinking when I wake up.
Or pretend I thought it was Saturday.
Or call in dead.
I probably won't do any of those things. But it's a nice thought. So I'd better get ready for my day tomorrow and prepare to kick some ass! Well, at least I get to publish my newsletter tomorrow and get the feedback that goes along with that. I still have a bunch of on line MS Publisher lessons to do, too! I am so behind. How did I get so behind? I'm too scattered lately.
Time to get organized!
Later.
