Camping?

Peachy's post just reminded me of something -- the husband's trying to make me go camping next month. For 3 long days. Not just camping, by a lake or something, but on the side of a hill with a bunch of rowdy freaks who believe the following:

1) Gas is for cleaning parts.
2) Alcohol is for drinking
3) Nitro is for racing

This is the mantra of NHRA fans. NHRA is the National Hot Rod Association. I went with the husband once, for a day. ONE day of 3. It was enough for me. It was impressive; the cars went from 0 to 320 in a few seconds. The noise those engines make upon taking off and passing you rumbles up to the bleachers and through your guts -- no lie -- it's amazing. But 3 days? To me, it's a boy thing. They run around all day checking out cars, talking to racers (which they can still do with NHRA, unlike NASCAR -- his other favorite motorsport) and getting shit-faced the other 12 hours of the day.

Last year the husband took one his friends and his friend's girlfriend, but they also had a hook-up from someone on one of the pit crews where they had some kind of box seating. I don't think that's happening this year. But now the friend, and the friend's girlfriend, and the friend's mother and the friend's mother's fiance (are you following me?) are going, too. They're all fun people -- but it's still a drag racing event! I'd rather stay home and shop. Or have my hair done. Or read magazines. Read books. Catch up on TV shows. Cook. Bake. Have my nails done.

But I know he wants me to go.

What to do? He's gone all these other years w/o me, but now with all these other people going he probably feels like odd man out. He wants his wifey to go.

Should I go?

Could you go for a day trip again? That way you're there, but don't have to stick around ALL weekend.

Just get drunk and it won't matter whether it's fun or not. Maybe your hubby won't invite you back. hee hee.
