It's STILL Raining

I do love this weather, but it is rather odd in June. In California. The weather dude (or, as my grandfather used to refer to him, the "weather bum") says we typically get one day of rain in June, and this is supposed to be it. Then again, I seem to recall a few days of June rain in recent years . . . I dunno. All I know is people lose their damned minds when it rains here, especially when they aren't expecting it. Thanks for the 20 mph drive to work this morning, everybody -- I really enjoyed it! Hissssssssssssssss.

This is what time I'm supposed to be at work in the morning:

da clock

. . . . aaaaand this is what I was looking at right around that time:

da traffic jam

Ahhhh look at all the pretty brake lights. I'm a whole 4 miles from my house at this point -- and work is 18 miles from my house. So yeah, I didn't get to work for another half hour after TAKING A PICTURE OF TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY. What the hell -- if I'm gonna be sitting still, I might as well amuse myself! I swear, Sacramento has gone apeshit over the past 5 years. And I read in the Sac Business Journal that Sacramento has some of the worst drivers in the country! In the country? The whole country? My family is from Boston. Those are some of the worst drivers in the country, with their crazy interchanges and rotaries. In LA, they carry guns in their glove compartments instead of ice scrapers! But yeah, the only California city to crack the top 20 in driving, according to the article I was reading, was Bakersfield (I believe) at number 19. Well, maybe that explains the traffic. Accidents every 3 miles, I swear to God. I think the problem is the people who were already living here don't know what to do with all the people who have moved here over the last few years. They threw a bunch of southern Californians and Bay Area types into the mix and THEY are used to crazy driving. All the so-called "super commuters" on their way from their Sac-area homes to their Bay Area jobs are zooming off for their 2-3 hour commute and leaving carnage and destruction in their wake! It's a theory, anyway.

I feel like Sacramento in the early 2000's is like Seattle was in the early 90's -- it became a "thing" and everyone started migrating. But a lot of those people left Washington about as fast as they came and I'm hoping for a few 110-degree summers to smoke out some of the recent transplants. As Lumbergh would say, that would be greeeeeeeeaaat.

That's hilarious. Excellent fotos. Sorry, I hate the rain too. And if it's raining there for you now, it means it'll be raining for me over the weekend. Ugh.
