Sadly, this is no joke. I saw this guy as an opener to Lewis Black at the Memorial Auditorium in October 2003 and had not heard of him prior to that. He was a nut -- his hair in his face, his tone steady, and his observations random. You'd be sitting there listening to him and not think much of what he was saying and then the humor would just hit you. One that I found particularly amusing:
"When you go a resturant on the weekends it's busy so they start a waiting list. They say Dufrane, party of two, table ready for Dufrane, party of two. And if no one answers they'll say the name again: Dufrane, party of two. But then if no one answers, they'll move on to the next name. Bush, party of three. Yeah, but what happened to the Dufranes? No one seems to care. Who can eat at a time like this? People are missing. You people are selfish. The Dufranes are in someone's trunk right now, with duct tape over their mouths. And they're hungry. That's a double whammy! We need help! Bush search party of three. You can eat once you find the Dufranes."
There's a story on the AP about it; I'll post the link but no guarantees on how long it'll be valid. The AP's super-strict about their copyrights, so I'm not posting any part of their article here. Mitch Hedberg
It's too bad. I'm glad we got to see his act.
