POSTSECRET

One of the more interesting blogs I've run across on Blogger is called POSTSECRET. If you go to the page and scroll to the bottom the basis of the site is spelled out there. In short, readers are encouraged to anonymously submit secrets on postcards they create themselves. The only criteria are that the secret is true and that it's never been shared with anyone before. Some are very funny; others, not so much. It's striking how many people are walking around with the weight of the world on their shoulders . . . particularly considering I just saw a psychiatrist on Oprah the other day telling her that the world is full of sociopaths . . . 1 in 25 people walking around apparently have no conscience and no ability to empathize. Scary. The good news, he said, is that sociopaths are made and not born (i.e., parents are fucking their kids up all over the place but a little attention and a few kind words from anyone can keep them from snapping). Food for thought.
