6 Days?
There I go, slacking again. No one really cares what I've been up to, anyway. That is, it's not newsworthy or anything. I went to a conference last Thursday for work -- my first related to my new field. It took me 3 hours to get there by car, and 3 hours back. I don't know how some people commute to the Bay Area every day. I would have an aneurysm for sure! But, since it was a work day and I was gonna get to meet a bunch of other people who do what I do, I was happy to go. I enjoyed it, and didn't even mind that I had a 12 1/2 hour day. I will see a lot of those people next month at a 5-day conference in San Diego.
So that was last Thursday, and Friday I was just ready for the weekend. Friday night we picked the stepdaughter up from basketball practice at 6 p.m. and then headed over to this place where some genius at the park & rec district decided they should have team photos taken -- after practice, at 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Because people don't want to eat dinner or anything, right? Anyway, we got that out of the way and went out for pizza & beer.
Saturday morning was the stepdaughter's basketball game -- we had to be there by 9:30 for a 10:30 game. It was alright -- her team won again and they are 3 and 0. Went from there to home to while away the hours before going to a b-day/poker party. I don't play, so I was there basically to drink and take over the host's computer while they played. The computer was out in the middle of everything so I still got to socialize. Then me and one of the hosts played a couple of rounds of Jenga. She won the first round, but the second round went much longer -- and the tower got a lot higher before I squeezed out the win. Sweet. I think I have some pics. Will have to post later.
And that's another thing. On Saturday I was trying to e-mail some pics and Outlook gave me some crap about no profile being set up. Well, I send e-mails every damned day and never had a problem before, so WTF?! I gave up trying to figure that out at some point that day.
Sunday we slept in some and I met some friends for lunch. After about 4 hours of catching up and wandering around some new stores in a strip mall in the area, I came home and my weekend was about over. I think I did some laundry or something fairly unremarkable. The weather was beautiful, though -- especially considering it rained like hell the next day! Even today the rain came and went -- like torrential downpour, then clear with bright fluffy clouds. Do you think the end is near?
Oh, then yesterday the husband and I went out for dinner and split a couple of pitchers of beer (on a Monday night!). It was cool until we got to the part where we got into a massive argument on the way home that screwed up the rest of the night. I won't even go into the substance of the argument. Suffice it to say it was a been there, done that, time to find something new to argue about argument and I wasn't willing to be the peacekeeper last night! Funny thing, though -- I told the husband last night as we were arguing that the next day he was gonna be all "I'm sorry, I was a jerk, that was stupid, yadda yadda yadda." Care to venture a guess as to what today was like? Mmm hmm. Groveling.
So today work was cool; I got a lot done and started tackling some tasks that previously seemed a little daunting. I learn a little more every day. Being in this position seems to me a little like getting paid to go to school. I love that they gave me this chance!
That's about it in a nutshell. I told you it wasn't anything to write home about. I'll try to post those Jenga pics tomorrow. I've decided that's a game best played while drinking. Then again, aren't most? Kinda like Operation -- it's just a little more challenging!

I'm glad you posted even if it was a summary of events.
3-0 is a good record.
Too funny about the husband groveling. Sounds like a keeper. :)
It's so nice that you like your job.
