Monday already?
Man, it's almost bedtime, even. I need another day! I always need another day. Today was part lazy day, part "doing little things I've been meaning to do around the house but never get around to" day. But mostly lazy day. I sorta cleaned up our bedroom closet, though, and got rid of some stuff, so I felt good about that. And I started a new goodwill bag -- gotta get rid of some stuff around here! We just don't have much in the way of storage space -- and we do have a lot of stuff we don't need or use. No matter how much stuff I get rid of, that always seems to be the case.
Yesterday I spent most of the day with the stepdaughter. I've been thinking about her a lot lately -- feeling like our relationship hasn't been as good as it could be. It's pretty much my fault, so I've been working on it. The husband and she came downtown and had lunch with me on Friday, and yesterday I picked her up from a friend's house after a birthday sleepover. We had lunch and then spent the day running around, shopping and looking for a birthday present for her dad. It was a good day. We haven't found a birthday present for the husband yet, but we picked up Jenga and Clue while we were out, and played a few rounds of Jenga when we got home. She helped me get dinner ready, and after dinner we all played Clue. Twice, in fact. I haven't played that game in forever! It was a blast. Then the stepdaughter and I went to my room and caught up on some Tivo -- Oprah shows about education in America and the working poor. She was really interested and asked a lot of questions. She's a bright kid. This weekend, she was more like my little buddy like she has been in the past. Today we made some chocolate chip cookies and colored some eggs. We had some good talks this weekend and, well, it was just really nice to connect again.
The husband's birthday is this Wednesday. He'll be 30. We don't have major plans, but I figure we'll pick up the stepdaughter and go have dinner somewhere, then come home and have cake (I'm going to order a special one from a bakery downtown that is sure to put all of us into a sugar coma). The husband wants to have a poker party on Saturday with a keg and such. I don't know if we need a whole keg, but I'm sure we can find what we need. So I have to get that planned and ready to go. That's about it for now.
I brought home some work this weekend thinking I was gonna get all this stuff done -- yeah, right! F! Ah, well, it'll still be there tomorrow. Right?

At least you were productive. I tried cleaning up a little, but the couch kept calling my name.
Sounds like you and the stepdaughter had fun doing all sorts of things.
Oh you always need a keg :)
It's cool that you and your stepdaughter had a "bonding" weekend. I wish I could be more productive. Blah.
Peachy: I know that feeling well!
Ian: Then a keg we shall have.
Pixie: :0)
